English Summary
The story A Letter to God revolves around Lencho, a poor farmer who has immense faith in God. He lives in a small house on the top of a hill with his family and depends on his crops for survival. One day, a hailstorm destroys his entire field, leaving him with no harvest. Despite the devastation, Lencho remains hopeful and decides to write a letter to God, asking for 100 pesos to survive and replant his fields. The postmaster, who receives the letter, is deeply moved by Lencho's faith. Although he knows it's impossible to send money from God, he decides to help Lencho. He collects money from his employees and friends, managing to gather 70 pesos. He sends the money to Lencho, signing the letter as "God." When Lencho receives the money, he is disappointed to find only 70 pesos instead of 100. He believes that God cannot make a mistake and assumes that the post office employees must have stolen the remaining 30 pesos. He writes another letter to God, expressing his disappointment and calling the employees "a bunch of crooks."
